Definition
- Rhizomelic short limbed dwarfism syndrome secondary to defective endochondral ossification
- Achondroplasia is the most common skeletal dysplasia
- Commonest form of disproportionate dwarfism

History
- First coined in 1878 by Parrot to distinguish between achondroplastics & rachitic patients with proportionate dwarfism
