Postural Kyphosis
- Parents concerned with postural roundback deformity
- Clinical gentle rounding of the back rather than gibbus
- Xray required to rule out Sheurman’s or Congenital
- Failure of formation or segmentation
- Stable versus unstable
- All have some risk of neurologic compromise & progression

- Aka juvenile rigid kyphosis
- Secondary to growth disturbance of the endplates

- Typical (Thoracic)
- Rigid thoracic kyphosis in juvenile or adolescent spine
- Apex T7 –T9, compensatory lordosis of the cervical & lumbar spine
- Incidence .4-10%
- Onset approximately 10 years of age
- Thoracolumbar
- Lumbar
- Constant backache
- Typically males
- Hard labour & athletics are associated
- Reduction in Lordosis
