- Hypoprotinaemia
- Hypoxia & poor tissue perfusion
- Deficiency of Vit C & Zinc
- Diabetes, jaundice & ureamia
- Increased age

- Impaired local circulation
- Infection & foriegn bodies
3. Exogenous Chemicals
- Corticosteriods
- NSAIDs (reversed by Vit )
- Oestrogns retard healing
- Androgens enhace healing
4. Physical factors
- Physical stress
- Emotional stress
5. Surgical factors
- Poor tissue handling
- Poor haemostatis
- Avoid drains exiting through wounds
- Encourage early mobilisation
