Question 1. (30mins) 50 marks
A 70 year old female with body mass index of 45 presents with a painful non-union in varus of a subtrochanteric femoral fracture treated with an 1M reconstruction nail. She had fallen and sustained the fracture while on holiday in Europe 7 months ago.
Outline the problems associated with managing this case and provide a detailed plan of management.
Question 2 (30 minutes) 50 marks
An adolescent presents with recurrent dislocation of the patella.
- What are your indications for surgery and' how do you decide which operation to recommend? (40 marks)
- Outline specific complications of surgery for this condition. (10 marks)
