Classification of Compound Fractures
Type	Description
I	Wound less than 1cm & compound from within out (0 - 2% infection)
II	Wounds more than1cm clean with little or no devitalised tissue (2 - 7% infection)
III	Moderate to massive wound, high velocity injuries & those with significant contamination
IIIa	Adequate soft tissue cover (7% infection)
IIIb	Extensive soft tissue injury bone exposed (10 - 50% infection)
IIIc	Associated with vascular injury needing repair (25 - 50% infection)
